500+ Head-Fier
Pros: ● Solid, high quality shell structure.
● Surprisingly, despite its size, it can give a good fitting to medium ear size.
● Somehow well-accessorised as it has good quality storage case and two types of ear tips to choose from.
● For a planar magnetic set, this is one of the easiest to drive among all planar sets available in the market.
● Warm and musical tonality
● Tactile, authoritative bass response for a planar set.
● Warm, lush and smooth midrange presentation.
● Appealing to listener who loves most type of male vocals and contraltos
● Smooth yet airy treble presentation.
● Solid macro-dynamics
● One of the few sets that have less “planar glint and energetic” timbre on its entirety of its tuning.
Cons: ● Non-competitive stock cable for its asking price.
● Well, planars…you still need a better power output on this to deliver that optimal sound quality.
● Not for neutral heads.
● With the existing of even more competitive pricing planar sets around, it will be a tough battle ahead for this set.
● Not the most technical sounding planar set that I've tested.

krenky

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Amazing details - literally analyzing your music
Airy highs just at the edge of being harsh
Wide soundstage (semi-open design, might be the biggest stage in iem)
Very energetic sound
Fantastic bass, deep and impactful
Sub-bass is incredible (but need a bit of EQ)
Easy to drive
Outstanding with electronic music
Accessories and build are superb
Pretty good timbre
Cons: Don't like stock cable (copper fits them better)
Sub-bass need some EQ (just a touch)
Isolation is not great because of semi-open design
No chance to relax with these
Timbre could be better
Might be harsh for some in treble region (fixable with filters, tips I believe)
No need to repeat what has been written in these reviews on this page. For me this is an amazing set worth every penny. Out of box they were just ok but after some burning time, swapped filters to...

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Vocals (both male and female but especially female) are sublime
Good fit/ergonomics
Very wide stage and good L/R imaging
When it hits, bass texture and quality is top tier.
Cons: Lack of soundstage depth
Can sometimes sound congested due to lack of depth to the soundstage
Bass isn’t always there when I want it
Pentaconn connector on the IEMs is rare and may require buying custom cables and connectors, some of which can be very expensive.

baskingshark

Headphoneus Supremus
Pros: Bountiful accessories
Modular cable for both single-ended and balanced sources
Solid build
Ergonomic and light; no pressure sensation in the ears due to vented housing
Easy to drive, amplification not needed
Tuning switches for versatility - warm neutral in stock tuning, with option for bass boost
Excellent technicalities - soundstage and imaging are a highlight
Bass sounds like a DD bass due to vented sub-woofer concept; fast, clean and textured basslines
Transparent midrange that is free of shout
Smooth yet resolving treble, without steroid boosted high frequencies
Cons: MMCX
Average isolation for an all BA set
Low impedance - source pairing potentially tricky with high output impedance sources

Cons: 'Pentacon Ear' connector also means less cable options
Bundled eartips are only available in 3 sizes
It could sound too dry or harsh if your isolation is bad

Pros: Excellent sound signature ( for its price - not boomy much more neutral than expected )
Good ANC modes
Good Features (EQ within App + LDAC / AAC)
Nice carry Case and packaging
Comfortable
Cons: Manually switching ANC modes required (no Adaptive ANC)
EQ wasn't as flexible as I would like (with some PEQ a smoother Frequency response would be achieved).
The midrange and treble are a bit uneven though good for its class.

it is written with passion and flair. But I agree that Reneta is taking over the review. In your experiments, how does it sound with Mirai X, warm+warm , makes me wonder. The question you had raised under Penon 10 "Why would you add a cable on the warmer side, wouldn’t you want a brighter cable?"
Redcarmoose
Redcarmoose
@antz123,

Thank-you!
Well it is simple and the reason for the emphasis in the review. That yes, the Renata IS the cable choice for the IEMs in question, all though if you wanted the T-OCC......it is an alternately a good choice too that provides a section of the included character at a fraction (of the Renata) price and goes with many IEMs. Cheers! At only $119.00!

No.........the TSMR FEAT and TSMR-X goes alive with both the Renata and the T-OCC, but you get what you pay for (as real results) in the end.

How does the tuning scale at higher volume? Is there more emphasis on the bright treble?

I might be somewhat of a basshead, but I don't like excess bass that colors the music as most of my music is already very bassy.

I saw a reviewer (Akros) on youtube that put the CCA Hydro's bass over Xenns Mangird Top and that is some achievement considering its almost "the" basshead set for many.. Also being he owns a set of Xenns it comes as a surprise and sounds convincing.

Have you tried these with techno or similar bass focused EDM?
Ceeluh7
Ceeluh7
@dezzadk, With higher volumes I do not get excess treble harshness. In fact, I feel the Hydro actually gets better with higher volumes. Of course, I am a higher volume listener. Probably something I should remark about in my reviews. So the bass is really very nice. I try not to make any grand declarations about how good a thing is but I could see how Akros came up with this. No this is not the type of bass that will color the whole of the spectrum, add unwanted veil or become muddy in the right switch settings. Of course, some would probably argue that, especially if they are allergic to bass. Great for techno, edm, and any other genre which requires a deep, palpable and snappy bass region. It isn't sloppy at all.
Ceeluh7
Ceeluh7
@dezzadk, Now, if you choose the more bass heavy dip-switch settings than the bass will color the spectrum a hair more, but for the most part the bass is clean. I didn't know he compared them to the Top. I've always liked Akros a lot and respect him quite a lot too. I suppose I should've brought out some more expensive sets to compare against. I saw that you said you enjoy bass, but not the kind which will color the rest of the mix to a fault, basically. You want good, solid, tight bass from an iem which will take an already bassy track and not over emphasize that region. I get that. I can say this, the Hydro does have an emphasis in the mid-bass, a big one. However, while the sub-bass is lifted and deep, it isn't the type which gives too much weight to the mid-bass making it sound slow or too wide in its presence. If that makes sense. Bass notes have good contour to them and they aren't slow "per the quantity".

Ceeluh7

500+ Head-Fier
Pros: -Great featherlight all-resin build (Kinera does it right)

-Beautiful Design

-One of the more comfortable iems. Again, featherlight.

-Note weight is a very nice version of lean-lush

-Nice timbre for an SPD. Nice timbre period!

-The low-end has nice impact & punch

-Midrange is forward, vibrant, not dull, nice for vocals

-Non-fatiguing treble region yet with good micro-details

-Detail Retrieval

-Wide stage

-Very smooth and musical
Cons: -Not as robust a build as some would like

-Sub-bass extension isn’t perfect

-Bass could use some authority and dense weight

-Upper-mids may be too lifted for some folks

-Treble extension isn’t the best

-Stage is pretty intimate front to back, and depth slightly lacks

-Imaging isn’t perfect

-Complicated tracks can sound… complicated (at times)
